Before making the choice, you should have the all the Invisalign information. Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed to allow for proper brushing and cleaning of teeth. The aligners themselves can also be cleaned more easily than braces. Because Invisalign is made of a type of plastic created through 3D modeling, they are much more comfortable than braces, without the discomfort of metal and wires filling your mouth. This also means no time is spent sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for an adjustment or to fix a loose wire.
Because Invisalign is clear, you’re able to see the progress as it happens. This is particularly useful for adults, who may not wish to wear braces because of stigma.
How does it work?
Invisalign works similarly to braces, but rather than adjusting the wires every few weeks, the patient will receive a new set of aligners designed to straighten their teeth. The aligners must be worn at all times except when eating, brushing the teeth, or flossing. As patients progress through the series of aligners, their teeth will be slowly re-positioned until they reach their final position.
The total treatment time when using Invisalign can be anywhere from 9-15 months, but it varies from patient to patient. A number of aligners are given at one time, so rather than coming in every two weeks, you’ll only need to visit every six weeks to ensure your teeth are aligning properly.
Invisalign treatment results depend significantly on the providing doctor. Remember, Invisalign is simply a dental laboratory. The treatment plan and aligner design are customized by Dr. Childers, so be sure to recognize how important it is to select an experienced orthodontic specialist like Dr. Childers, who is ranked in the top 1% of Invisalign providers in North America.
