Any orthodontist will tell you that you need to avoid certain foods such as gum, caramel and hard candies to preserve the life of your braces and keep them from being damaged. While there are lots of foods you’ll need to avoid with Invisalign treatment, there are foods that are great for your teeth as well.


Watermelons are especially great for teeth because they As far as fruits go, watermelon is one of the lowest in calories — only 46 calories per cup. That’s lower than even “low-sugar” fruits such as berries. Watermelon is also high in carotenoids, including beta-carotene and lycopene. Plus, it has citrulline, an important amino acid.

By removing the tray, you’re also enabling the carrots to scrub your teeth without anything being in their way. Here is a list of fruits and vegetables that are all relatively safe to consume while wearing ortho appliances.

Veggies: carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, cucumbers, salads and greens.
Fruits: watermelon, apples, pears, oranges, bananas and strawberries.
