While brushing your teeth may not be one of your favorite things, it is one of the most important for your health. Not only does regular brushing help to clean and whiten teeth, but it also removes harmful bacteria that can build up and cause decay, leaving to cavities. Brush daily

Some people brush mornings when they awaken and before going to bed. But it is actually better to brush your teeth after every meal, and snacks, too, if possible. Removing residual food particles will protect teeth in large part against deterioration and cavities. Many conscientious people carry a portable toothbrush to use in public restrooms after eating out. Ask your orthodontist for advice if you are unsure about the recommended frequency for brushing your teeth.

Brush adequately

It may be helpful to keep follow this three-step approach to brush your teeth effectively. Rinse your toothbrush with clear water to remove dust and make it fresh. Add a pea-size amount of toothpaste. Brush the teeth in front, behind, and around each tooth that can be comfortably reached. Many dentists recommend brushing for two minutes, but you can ask the orthodontist about the time limit, as well.

Clean your toothbrush

After brushing, run the toothbrush under cool water to remove trapped particles. Tap out the extra moisture, and return the toothbrush to its holder, letting it air-dry first.
